This template is used to automatically generate a sortkey for some text. It should only be used for testing purposes, as part of templates or to implement gadgets, not directly in entries.

If you are considering using it in a template, please consider that there is almost certainly a better way to achieve the same effect, because every template that uses the sort= parameter will use automatic sort if no sortkey is provided.

|1= (required)

The language code (Wiktionary:Languages) of the language to generate a sortkey for. If the language has no sortkey defined, then only the default changes will be made (e.g. the output will be in uppercase).

|2= (required)

The text to sort, which should be written in the given language.

|sc= (optional)

The script code (Wiktionary:Scripts), which specifies the script the text is given in. This is almost always unnecessary, as it is usually detected automatically.
